L’intégralité du spectacle, un livret de 36 pages et un bonus vidéo, la captation réalisée par le Phénix – Scène Nationale de Valenciennes qui a immortalisé l’instant !
Art Zoyd Studios poursuit son hommage à son fondateur et au directeur artistique et musical du groupe culte, Art Zoyd qu’il avait intégré en 1971* . Chacun a son histoire avec Art Zoyd et avec le bonhomme Hourbette, son anecdote humaine et musicale, : Gérard et son violon, sortant un son de nulle part, Gérard seul sur sa tour avec les artificiers de Groupe F, Gérard riant avec son volant/ manette dans son projet de duo avec Kasper T Toeplitz…

Chef à roulette sur les 44 ½ pilotant l’ordinateur et mettant les phares pour les saluts !, Gérard et ses symphonies incroyables… Gérard et ses colères aussi ! Contre la vie, contre la place laissée à la musique, contre la mesure et la bienséance…Gérard si humain, si fragile et pourtant si fort !
Ce coffret de deux disques reprend l’intégralité du concert donné par ses musiciens des dix dernières années, sous la direction musicale de Jérôme Soudan : Nadia Ratsimandresy, Yukari Bertocchi-Hamada, Romuald Cabardos, Daniel Koskowitz.
Gérard Hourbette a rendu l’aventure Art Zoyd possible sur la durée. Il a fondé, il y a plus de 20 ans, Art Zoyd Studios pour la musique et pour les compositeurs et musiciens qu’il aimait.
Il reste aujourd’hui l’âme de nos lieux, notre histoire, notre repère.Il aurait sans doute souri de tous ces humains masqués dans les salles de concert, lui de fan de K Dick, lui qui pensait que l’homme était un parasite pour
la terre. Il en aurait aussi certainement beaucoup souffert.
Une chose est sûre, il aurait poursuivi le chemin, il aurait composé, imaginé des projets fous parce que la musique était son souffle, sa raison de vivre, comme aujourd’hui nos studios se réinventent pour permettre à la musique de continuer à être.

Ce projet fait partie d’un vaste programme de recherche que nous menons avec les Universités de Saint-Etienne et de Valenciennes, grâce au soutien de la Drac et de la Région Hauts de France.

Everyone has a story to share about Art Zoyd and Hourbette the man, a personal or musical anecdote: Gérard getting otherworldly sounds out of his violin, Gérard alone on his tower with the Groupe F pyrotechnists, Gérard laughing with his joystick in his duo project with Kasper T Toeplitz…Conductor on wheels for the 44 ½, steering the computer and turning the lights on as his fellow musicians take a bow! Gérard and his incredible symphonies…Gérard’s tantrums, too! Against life, against the place afforded to music, against moderation and etiquette… Gérard so humane, fragile and yet so strong!The two-disc set includes the entire performance by the musicians who had worked with him over the past decade, under the musical direction of Jérôme Soudan: Nadia Ratsimandresy, Yukari Bertocchi-Hamada, Romuald Cabardos, Daniel Koskowitz.Gérard Hourbette made the Art Zoyd adventure possible over time. Over 20 years ago, he founded Art Zoyd Studios for music and for the composers and musicians he loved.
Today he remains the soul of this place, of our history – a landmark. Seeing all those masked humans in concert halls would probably have brought a smile to his face, as a Philip K Dick fan who believed man was a parasite for the Earth. That would certainly have been painful for him, too.
One thing is sure, though: he would have forged ahead, kept composing and devising crazy projects, because music was his breath, his reason for living, just as today our studios are reinventing themselves to allow music to continue to exist.
