RELEASE MARCH 2022
This box set was published in response to a call for projects based on Gérard Hourbette's legendary piece for Art Zoyd, Symphonie pour le jour où brûleront les cités.
Created in 1976, it has marked the history of the group and its composer to the point of becoming a cult piece.
As part of Art Zoyd Studios' work to preserve contemporary music and the Gérard Hourbette collection, two composers were invited to visit the archives for two original creations based on the Symphony.
Here are just a few of our suggestions:
- The original 1976 piece (which was remixed and re-edited by the band in 1981).
- A version from 2000 re-orchestrated by Jérôme Combier with the Orchestre National de Lille and Art Zoyd as part of the Dangereuses Visions cycle, with the Blindman Kwartet and solo trumpeter Bart Maris, conducted by Fayçal Karaoui.
- A version re-orchestrated by Gérard Hourbette in 2015 on the occasion of the band's 44 ½ year anniversary.
- Electronic study for the day when cities burn by Tristan Faustt (2021)
- In memoriam Gérard, miroir du jour où... brûleront les cités by Laurent Mariusse (2021)
